Ben Wilson
Profile
Technical lead who treats software as craft. I turn ambiguous requirements into clean, durable systems and refuse process for process's sake. The best step in any process is the one you remove.
AI is not a feature, it is leverage, and most companies have yet to harness it correctly. I use it to multiply output, tighten feedback loops, and surface problems early. I believe companies that treat AI as optional will be outpaced by those that treat it as fundamental.
If that makes you uncomfortable, we're not a match. I work best with people who care about building things that delight users and don't cut corners.
Capabilities
Technical leadership and system design
- Led the technical design and full-stack implementation of RightCareHQ, an in-house care management platform now supporting safe delivery of care to 23,000+ clients across a national franchise network.
- Lead a 7-person engineering team across database, application, and testing layers. Mentor on standards, judgement, and delivery quality.
- Own end-to-end system design: requirements clarity, architecture decisions, and the translation of complex operational logic into working software backed by great process.
Data engineering and architecture
- Designed the MariaDB schema for RightCareHQ (400+ tables) used by 2,000+ daily concurrent users.
- Built and iterated ETL pipelines that moved care planning data from third-party systems into the platform, achieving ~200x improvement over the original baseline.
- Earlier: designed a Python ETL pipeline that collated financial and client data from a 70-franchise network into AWS S3 w/ Quick Sight, cutting an 80-hour process to 10 minutes.
AI, automation, and testing
- Built Mocktopus, a durable automated testing suite for care-critical processes, cutting average production bugs per deployment by 93%.
- Treat AI agents as first-class engineering tools: parallel orchestration, rapid iteration to achieve higher baseline quality. The constraint is knowing what good looks like and what to reject.
- Built a Next.JS multimodal LLM knowledge base and eLearning platform for 2,000+ users to create a more self-sufficient user base.
Process, delivery, and domain
- Built RaH Insights, an internal franchise operations intelligence service (financial KPIs, spatial mapping, interactive dashboards), saving ~£30k against third party alternatives.
- Led a 6-week migration of franchises from paper-based care planning to digital processes. Trained non-technical users across a national franchise network.
- Six years working inside regulated care operations (safety-critical workflows, franchise-scale systems). Comfortable translating messy real-world process into reliable software.
